Growing up on the Monterey Peninsula, I have made many memorable visits to the Pacific Grove, CA Butterfly Sanctuary. This fall, I read an article in the local Monterey Herald highlighting the dismal decline in the Monarch Butterfly population and no one seemed to be talking about it. I decided to create a community service project on behalf of the Monarch Butterflies by rebuilding their habitat and building community awareness through local schools to support action on their behalf.
The Monterey Monarch Project is a non-profit community service project started by Jackson Swette, Class of 2021, Stevenson School.
